Carnival Firsts

Junior Cyclist members made their way down to the beautiful Southern Tablelands to compete in Goulburn Trackpower. The first carnival of 2017 marked a number of firsts for many JC members.

Lucas and Melissa experienced their first taste of a carnival outside of the InterSchool Cycling Series. Both riders performed very well and managed to stay with the group. Lucas even managed to take a couple of first places in the sprint derby and wheelrace.

Emma managed to take first place in the wheelrace with Grace joining her on the podium for 3rd.

It was great to see Jono take the podium. He managed to hold the lead for much of the two lap wheelrace against a tough field before being passed in the final moments of the race. His efforts were rewarded with third prize.

With only half a season of experience, Max raced well in the senior carnival against a number of riders, many of whom racing more than half their lives. Max claimed second in the five lap wheelrace behind Zane from BSCC who managed to hang on for the win.

Junior Cyclist was well represented with 15 riders from three clubs. ATTA-NSW had 12 riders, only to be outdone by Orange with Canberra with 14 riders each in the juniors.

A big thanks goes out to Goulburn Cycling Club and their volunteers who put on a great carnival for both junior and senior riders.
